Development & Communications Specialist
Pay: $19.23 per hour
Position Summary: The Development & Communications Specialist provides essential administrative support and coordination assistance to the VP of Fund Development in the planning, execution, control, and evaluation of fundraising, public relations, volunteer programs, and outreach activities aimed at generating funding for the organization.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday office hours – 7:30am-4pm
- Occasional weekend and evening hours for direct mail campaigns, community outreach, fundraising, and public relations activities
Job Requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google productivity/office applications
- Familiarity with fundraising software (preference given to Raiser’s Edge)
- Strong written, storytelling, and personal communication skills
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to community functions
- Successful completion of all required background checks
- Adherence to the ethical principles set forth by the Association of Fundraising Professionals and their Donors Bill of Rights
Job Functions:
- Office work involving frequent sitting, typing, and reading from computer screens
- Communication via phone and email
- Regular interactions with community members, requiring some driving
- Maintain database: donation entry, donor contact updates, and relationship tracking
- Prepare timely donor acknowledgements
- Prepare reports, mailing lists, contact lists, etc.
- Track volunteer opportunities and relationships, and event tracking
- Prepare social media performance reports
- Coordinate Fund Development Committee communications, meeting materials, and dissemination
- Support production of public relations materials, newsletters, and mailings
- Support direct mail outreach logistics
- Assist in coordination of special events and meetings
- Perform light office administration
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Fund Development or President/CEO
